Frequently asked questions
The Border Collie is a special breed with higher needs than others. The Border Collie does require a lot of training and they do need rules and guidance while growing and learning. We highly recommended crate training while your Border Collie is a puppy. This is a great tool to use and allows your puppy to find a safe space of their own. We also encourage feeding in the kennel to prevent any issues from arrising. While none of our dogs resource guard, this can be an issue with any dog who feels unsafe and/or feels they do not have a place of their own.
We also highly recommend getting your puppy into training classes. We here use a balanced training approach; however, I suggest using whatever training methods you and your pet are most comfortable with.
My dogs are working dogs. So, they herd our small flocks of animals here and we also go out for lessons, clinics, and trials. However, I know that is not for everyone. While any dog does require physical exercise, the Border Collie especially needs and requires mental stimulation. Mental excercises like training, obedience, rally, tricks, puzzles, or herding training where they have to think and use their brain are absolutely necessary. Many people think that due to their energy Border Collies may not make good house pets or that they cannot comortably live in an apartment. However, as stated, the most important item needed for Border Collies in that mental stimulation. My dogs are perfectly happy being good ole couch potatoes while inside.
The answer is yes!
If needed you can fly to pick up your puppy and take the puppy back with you in cabin. If you yourself cannot fly, we can find a flight nanny to fly the puppy to you. We do not fly puppies alone though or as cargo. If time is available, I myself can drive and deliver or drive and meet for a fee. Otherwise, we have a trusted pet transporter that drives your precious new pooch right to your door with updates and photos along the way! We do allow and encourage for you to come and pick up your puppy that way you can meet me and the dogs in person.
